Diving
For a Cause
That
Touches Lives…
This is a fun and unique
foundation, combining a passion for fishing with a desire to leave each
community they visit a better place than it was when they arrived.
Divers arrive in New Zealand, where
they spend 5 days spearfishing, a sport that they all love. But this team is
different and there is work to be done. These fishermen and women will harvest
their catch and then donate the fish to the local Maori tribe, feeding many
hungry indigenous families.
In addition, the team will spend
several community service days with the Maori people, working on various educational
and environmental projects. They will work with the local school, maybe teaching
the young children to snorkel and to appreciate the wonders of the ocean. Funds
will be used to start a marine science program in the school, and to purchase
P.E. equipment for the kids.
This group will also be actively
working with a women’s shelter in Whakatane, New Zealand. Our donations will be
used to purchase backpacks for children living at the shelter and fill them
with books, writing tablets, pens, markers, crayons and other school
supplies. Additional
funds will be used to purchase gifts and needs for the women currently living
in this shelter, a secret and safe place to help these courageous women to
heal.
